I like seeing the insider behind the scenes parts, Madeline ~ like the footnote where you had to pause to check on your child, and the first draft of before he wakes. and of course the Wendell Berry poem, too. I am trying to stay present as I read your post and type this comment, very relatable. It's good to feel like I'm not alone in this constant pursuit to be present. And you're making me push Bird by Bird up higher on my to-read list ... it's sitting on my shelf in a pile right now.
It’s funny how we have books in stacks or on shelves just waiting for their opportune time to be read and enjoyed! I had saved Bird by Bird on an online list for months and saw it in the clearance at Half Price…felt like fate! I think you’ll enjoy it whenever the time comes.

There is such meaning in everyone of your posts and in some way we relate to each one. We don’t have a precious toddler but we wonder where does the time go? Always chores left to be done before our energy disappears. No time to do for others like we used to do. Shall we call it aging?
